The outbreak of COVID-19 has touched the world and our local community. It was a difficult decision with early news to close the office. As the science and enormity of health consequences began to roll in, the office was quickly closed in support of the health of our team, patients and community.

Given the closure, you may have a few questions.

Will this delay my treatment?

The best way to keep your treatment on track is to wear those elastics, devices and not break any braces. The most common reason we see treatment delayed is two simple things: not wearing elastics and not wearing Invisalign trays as recommended. Protect your teeth keeping them clean and avoid those sticky and hard foods that can break brackets and devices.

What do we do already?

Your clinical Smile Power Team is already trained in infection control protocols using PPE (personal protective equipment), uses EPA approved surface cleaners, instrument sterilization and immediate disposal of one time use products.

Even more.

We know that a big part of successful orthodontic treatment is keeping appointments to monitor treatment and make necessary adjustments.

In an effort to support Contra Costa Health Services, CDA and AAO recommendations, we will be closed through Sunday, March 29th, 2020.

In an abundance of caution, patients that are scheduled to come in to see us the week of March 30th - April 2nd will be reviewed for the option of remote treatment. We will confirm attendance in the clinic based on need.

There is good news.

I have a lot of faith in the resourcefulness of Americans and the sheer amount of technological and medical expertise. While there are parts of the world like Italy that are just being devastated by this invisible enemy, clinical trials are underway to test a new vaccine and anti-viral drugs are being used with early successes in Europe and the USA.

As the recovery effort is strongly underway and updates quickly turn, please stay tuned for more of our efforts to maintain you and your family’s health. Stay safe and healthy and we’ll see you very soon!
