Maxillary Skeletal Expanders (MSE)

MSE examplesMaxillary Skeletal Expanders (MSE) is an alternative to avoid extensive surgical procedures. In order to obtain skeletal results of MSE, forces need to be enough to overcome the anatomical areas of resistance. This includes the palate and surrounding structures. The palate becomes increasingly locked (interdigitated) after completion of growth.

The MSE is a version of the Microimplant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) and is capable of producing dramatic maxillary skeletal expansion.
